Woy Woy Hotel
A refreshed identity bringing new life to a coastal classic.
Overview
Formerly known as The Old Pub, Woy Woy Hotel wanted to revitalise its brand while preserving its long-standing connection to the local community. The brief was to modernise without losing the warmth and nostalgia that made it a beloved Central Coast icon.
The key decision was what to keep. Rather than start from scratch, the existing pelican was evolved, not replaced. It was a conscious choice to protect the recognition the pub had already earned locally, and to lean into its position directly across from Pelican Island, keeping the mark rooted in place rather than nostalgia.
That pelican was redrawn as a set of playful, characterful illustrations and extended into a full identity system: logo, signage, menus, social templates and merchandise. The result feels modern and inclusive, yet unmistakably the same pub, balancing heritage with a renewed energy that invites locals and visitors alike to feel at home.
